The Pencil Skirt Series: Rococo with an Edge (Episode 5)

Hey Y'all!
Here is the FINAL episode of "The Pencil Skirt Series"! I'm sad, and happy at the same time that it's over. I loved doing this series, and from what I've read, y'all have been liking it too. I may, or may not have some further pencil skirt episodes planned after this, but we'll see.........

This skirt has a 1700's, french style, rococo print, which I love. I have loved anything Marie Antoinette since the movie came out. I should to a blog post about it sometime. Here's some pictures to give you an idea of Rococo style:

So as you can see, this skirt is really reminiscent of Rococo style, which is why I love it so much. I like to pair it with edgy things such as studs, and black, to make it into an interesting juxtaposition. This skirt is a little too small for me, so I don't wear it much anymore. I don't have the heart to get rid of it though because it's so pretty. It hits me at my waist, and comes right above the knee (it is the shortest pencil skirt of the bunch), and has a slit up the back. I paired it with a grey scooped neck top, with ruffled sleeves. This top (and tops like it) are really nice paired with pencil skirts, because they make your shoulders look a little bit broader. If you have wide hips like me, this is great because it gives you an hour-glass figure. I also added a thin vintage belt (it was my late grandmother's). This belt is black patten leather, with two little gold hedgehogs for clasps. For shoes, I chose some black, patten leather wedges from Payless. These wedges are great because they can be worn in an edgy way, casually, or formally. Lastly, for accessories I added my cuff bracelets from The Current Custom, tree branch necklace from Nancy Nelson Jewelry (Etsy.com), bullet earrings (handmade gift from a friend), my chain "Return to Tiffany's" bracelet, my bead Tiffany & Co bracelet, and a multi-chain necklace by Anna Sheffield for Target. I also used a studded bracelet as a headband, for a little multitasking, and interesting "punky" twist. This look would be great for a concert, a date, dinner with friends, cocktails (if you're over 21, of course).

This second look is a little more soft. It sort of reminds me of a modern day version of Marie Antoinette style. This top is by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's, and has small leaf shaped pieces of fabric that make it look a bit like a birds fluffy white breast. It is also similar to the embellished bodices of Rococo dresses. This shirt is racer backed. The shoe are nude, pointy-toed, patten kitten heel from Payless. I also added an embellished headband from Target. Jewelry includes teal and silver earrings from Charming Charlie, my two Tiffany bracelets, the same tree branch necklace, and cuff bracelets (links above). The accessories really give the outfit that decedent, over embellished quality that Rococo dresses had. If this look is too embellished for you, you can ditch the headband and/or earrings, and choose something simpler. This look would be great for a lunch with friends, Church, or family gathering. It is also nice for just spring time day wear.

Okay y'all! That is it for this series! I really hoped y'all enjoyed it as much as I did. As I said before, there may or may not be additions to this series in the future. You'll just have to wait and see....

You can watch the whole Pencil Skirt Series here.

Thanks for reading!
